It was actually a great weekend for them to visit because there were actually some things going on in Wichita Falls. The Air Show was going on at the base, so of course we had to check that out.
The Air Show was actually on Saturday and Sunday, but we all met Steven Friday afternoon after he got off work to go out to the flight line and watch the practice run and see all the planes without having to put up with the crowds. It was kind of like being VIPs.... except not.
They had a C-17 there. Seeing it made my heart ache for Charleston, but not for the deployments that it brought Steven. I had to get a picture of Caroline and her daddy with the ginormous plane he used to fly. Look how tiny they look next to it! Crazy!
A little closer... But still big...
You really can't even see Caroline in these pictures, but you get the idea.

Yes, Steven is carrying Caroline around in the Baby Bjorn while wearing his flight suit. He is the best daddy!
We got there in time to watch the Canadian Snowbirds perform. They are basically the Canadian version of the Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels. I hate to say it, but the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels are better. Sorry, but nobody does it better than the US of A (cue the Toby Keith music).
Still, they were entertaining to watch.
Snowbirds again...
And again...
Caroline was having a great time
Family pic!
I eventually lost interest and just started taking pictures of Caroline.
"Seriously Mom?" There are about 100 other variations of this picture, but I won't bore you with those. It was around this time that Steven reprimanded me for not paying attention to the planes...
After we watched the Snowbirds practice, we headed back to the house to cook some dinner and relax. It was so nice outside so we all relaxed outside by the pool. Caroline hammed it up and entertained us all.
Because one noonie is never enough... (Noonie is Lousiana speak for "pacifier"... For all of my non-Cajun readers)
I love this picture because it looks like she is roaring at the lion ha!
Cheese!
Some one is teething big time. She would rather chew on her noonie than suck on it.
On Saturday, we headed out to the Air Show. Steven had to work for a little bit that morning, so he met us there.
A month or two ago, Steven came home from work practically skipping. He proudly presented a bag and this pink little "United States Air Force" dress was in it. Caroline can finally wear it, so this was the perfect occassion. Unfortunately, this was the best pic I could get.
More planes.
On Friday when there weren't so many people there, we actually talked to two little old guys who flew in one of the World War II era planes. Apparently they are on some committee to "save" their dear old plane. It was so cute because they were so passionate about flying and that plane in particular. I could totally see Steven being like them one day after he retires. He would be happier than a pig in mud to go to these Air Shows and perform like those old guys. One day...
Since we had pretty much seen the last part of the Air Show, we went ahead and started walking back to the car. We were parked near the end of the run way, so we were able to get up close for the F-16 demonstration. Caroline ended up falling asleep... and she stayed asleep... even with an F-16 screaming overhead.
As I said, it was actually a pretty happenin' weekend here in the Falls. After the Air Show, we headed home to freshen up and we headed to Oktoberfest.
Addie, our good friends Jason and Val's daughter, is Caroline's BFF. Val and I were pregnant at the same time and our girls were born about 5 weeks apart, so it has been nice to have a mommy friend that is pretty much in the same boat.
Since we were at the Air Show all afternoon, Caroline didn't really get a quality nap in, so there was a lot of this:
And a lot of this:
Some one had ants in her pants. Needless to say, it had been a long day. We need a babysitter STAT!
I realize that I already posted a pic of Steven and I above, but I just had to post this because Caroline is too funny. This pretty much sums her up: all over the place and into everything.
Our group! All of the Germans Steven works with helped put Oktoberfest on, so they were all there decked out in their lederhosen. I wish I had gotten pics :( It was a little difficult with a squirmy baby.
On Sunday, we went to church and just took it easy. Sugar and Pops rested up because they had to head back to Lafayette on Monday.
Since I am so behind on blogging, I haven't had a chance to post about Caroline's latest trick: pulling up. Now that she has figured it out, she loves to pull up on anything and EVERYTHING, including me.
